Sober Life Victory: August Goals
This month I have goals. Y’all I have an actual list of things that I want to accomplish. It’s been so long since I made a list of goals. People always describe me as competitive, but really I’m goal oriented. I like to set goals and push forward to accomplish these goals. So if you get in my way of accomplishing a goal - then yeah, you probably would perceive me as competitive. In truth, I like to win, but I don’t hate to lose.
I can’t remember the last time I set a list of goals for myself. It was just too depressing. Why? I was always tired, hungover, suffering through each day to get to my wine at night. Not present, not moving. So sad. For me, for my husband, for my kids. For my health, my home and my dog that never got good walks, let alone a run. Yet, this August 2016 - I HAVE GOALS!!!
So what are they? They are things that have been nagging me. Tasks really around our house that just.need.to.get.done.
- Set up 1-800 junk and finally get rid of the excess that building a house and moving brings to your home.
- Go through the mountain of clothes the daughter has in her room and closet and determine what clothes she will need for the school year
- Hide the cables from the TVs in our bedroom and the guest room
- Complete a Whole30
Not revolutionary or earth-shattering or life-changing. But, making a list of things to get done this month is revolutionary, earth-shattering and life-changing. It’s the confidence to know that I can make that list and accomplish the things on it. It’s a sober life victory that I will cherish and I can’t wait to see where I take my September goals.
